This is a third grade writing lesson plan that incorporates a lesson about the solar system. The lesson focuses on students analyzing the different characteristics of the different planets in the solar system. While refreshing the students' understanding of how the planets are different, the lesson also focuses on improving students' writing skills.
This is a third grade lesson plan based on Planets by Gail Gibbons. It follows the teaching pattern of preview, predict, confirm, which asks students to preview the book with a picture walk, predict the key vocabulary words that will occur in the text, and finally read the text to confirm if their predictions were correct. This causes students to think critically about words that would be linked with the subject of the text.
This is a third grade math lesson plan which applies the concept of area and plane figures. The lesson puts the students into a creative situation which allows them to access the knowledge in a more entertaining method than simple rote exercises.
This is a third grade math lesson plan focusing on the concept of calculating mass and volume. The lesson incorporates elements of science through the topic of the solar system and allows students to take an entertaining and unconventional approach to a conventional subject matter.
This is a Learning Report which analyzes student progress through a unit on change over time. The report follows a class of 22 students as they learn about change over time, monitoring their progress with diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments. It also includes my personal reflection on instruction and student progress as well as evidence of student work.
This is a kindergarten lesson plan that I implemented during my time student teaching at Meadowlark Elementary. It focuses on building knowledge of the number seven (how to write it, how to draw it) as well as building number sense (how the number seven can be broken down). This lesson specifically caters to the various types of learning styles.
This is a first grade Math lesson plan over doubles plus two that was part of a unit where students learned strategies to help them with their addition facts up to 18. In this lesson, students access their prior understanding of doubles and doubles plus one to help them add "near doubles" by using the doubles plus two strategy. Students practice manipulating the numbers to find various ways to solve doubles plus two facts.
This is a first grade lesson plan introducting the students to spiders. The lesson engages students at the beginning with a game to access their prior knowledge on the subject. The information is presented to the students in an accessible way, categorizing the spider facts into "Spiders have.., Spiders can.., and Spiders are..." Students work as a class, in small groups, and independently to explore and learn all about these creepy crawlies.
This is a first grade math lesson, reviewing the topic of Tens and Ones. During the lesson, students have the opportunity to compose and decompose two digit numbers into tens and ones, write the numbers in expanded form, and apply the information for problem solving purposes.
This is a first grade lesson for Reading/ELA whole group and small groups. This lesson allows students to get hands on experience with marking text, using context clues, and finding evidence to support their answers. During the lesson students discuss the theme of the story and identify the supporting details. The small group lesson covers the topic of compound words, allowing students to manipulate and put the words into context.
